June 19, 2020
Today we celebrate Juneteenth. Freedom from the yoke of bondage.
Recently, we have had some very sad days in the United States and the entire World. Hundreds of years of racism and injustice were brought to the front page after the horrific killing of George Floyd.
I stand in solidarity with all oppressed people and mourn the deaths of countless victims of abuses of power and authority. I condemn racism, discrimination, and harassment, in any form or manifestation and do what I can to remove systemic barriers. My conviction started in the 1960s - we have made some progress, but more needs to be done.
We are a global community and we must reaffirm our commitment to destroy institutional barriers and to empower all people to enjoy a peaceful life, liberty, and justice.
